The word Ubud in Indonesian translates to ‘Medicine’, therefore it is no wonder that the spa treatments offered in Ubud are so heavenly and healing. One only has to look at the gift Mother Nature has bestowed upon the rolling rice paddies, nourishing food and abundance of unusual flora and fauna that inhabit the region.
Bali Celebrated want to offer you an insight into the healing Spa’s of Ubud, that you simply cannot turn down.
Shangarilla Spa is located in Lotus lane off Monkey Rainforest Rd, this laneway a mecca for spas in Ubud. A saving grace if you try and get into Shangarilla Spa without a booking. The best part of Shangarilla Spa is the low prices one pays for the serene atmosphere and excellent service received. One would expect to pay around USD 12 for an hour massage.
They offer treatments from traditional Balinese massage to Lomi Lomi massage, a chakra Therapy and Body massage and scrub. The chakra therapy involves opening the chakra of your choice stimulated by the use of organic oil. It invigorates and opens your body’s natural flow of energy. Highly recommended.
For a luxurious, high‐end experience Taksu Spa is a tranquil oasis set within a plush jungle with the massage rooms all facing towards a stream running through the site. Taksu Spa offers everything from ozone steam saunas, Ayurvedic yoga massage to Special Twilight packages for two.
The staff are extremely well trained and speak English. The products they use are organic and usually in part from the medicinal garden on site. The cost varies from around USD 25 to the “Twilight at Taksu package” at around USD 90 a head for a 2 hour Balinese massage and mineral bath.
Whilst offering treatments for the mind body and soul Suravi Spa, is the preferred option for treatments one would usually only trust in their motherland. At only USD 25 for a full body wax, you receive a very professional wax and a short massage at the end of the treatment. Another spa that is fantastic value for money.
Additionally Suravi Spa offers innovative massages like the Yoga Massage for the active sportsman or woman. The practitioner guides their hands along the energy (Nadi) lines and pressure points whilst the client is in yoga postures. A completely rejuvenating massage for the whole body.
And the not so therapeutic….
Some of the beautiful Balinese spas, turn out to be small back rooms with untrained, non – English speaking staff. Ask to have a look at the rooms first and ensure the practitioner speaks adequate English. This is to avoid horror stories like having whole nails removed or hair ripped completely out in chunks. I would advise avoiding cream baths (blow waves) at all costs, absolutely traumatising.
Ubud is a mecca of nature and healing, Bali Celebrated hopes you leave feeling rejuvenated, restored and ready to re‐enter the real world.
